Registration And Fees
Is there a registration fee for teams?
There is no fee to sign up to compete in PTO Playoffs. However, once your school has been selected to participate, there is a $250 registration fee, which you have until January 20, 2017, to pay.
What does the registration fee include?
The registration fee gets you a custom designed fundraising PTO Playoffs webpage, team t-shirts, access to the hospitality tent, 100 event day tickets, and swag bag filled with goodies.
Does PTO Playoffs keep any of the money we raise?
Yes, PTO Playoffs keeps only 20% of the money you raise to cover administrative fees.
Is there a refund of registration fees if our school decides against participating?
Unfortunately, the registration fee are non-refundable.
What are the organizational requirements of the PTA/PTO?
Must be an official operating organization with a board, bylaws & must be verified by the school administration. A letter from the principal or head of school acknowledging the PTA/PTO’s participation in the PTO Playoff fundraiser and competition is required.
What is the registration deadline?
There are a two deadlines: Video Pitch and Registration Fee. The Video Pitch deadline is Friday, November 18, 2016. The Registration Fee deadline is Friday, January 20, 2017.
Event Time, Location And Seating
What is the location?
Woodrow Wilson High School, located at 3950 Chesapeake St NW, Washington, DC 20016. Van Ness is the closest Metro station, just one block from the school.
What time does the competition start?
10:00 am EST
Are there specific seating arrangements for spectators?
Each school represented in the competition will have a spirit section in the bleachers.
What is the cost for admission for spectators?
There is no cost to attend as a spectator.
Teams And Players
How many players allowed per team?
Each team can have up to 20 people representing their school’s PTO/PTA.
What happens if players from our team drop out?
If you can’t get other players to replace the team members who have dropped out, you will be able to participate in the game-day competition with your registered players.
What happens if someone from our team gets hurt during the competition?
PTO Playoffs will have first aid available on site.
Do players have to sign a waiver?
Yes, each game-day competition participant is required to sign a waiver that indemnifies PTO Playoffs from all liability regarding game day competition.
What should the team make-up be like?
We recommend a balanced team that would consist of school administrators, teachers and parents.
Are children allowed on teams?
Children are allowed to come and support their schools’ PTA/PTO organization as spectators, but they are not allowed to participate on teams.
If our team falls out of the bracket, are we required to stay until the competition ends?
All teams are required to stay until the end of the competition.
When will our team receive our game paraphernalia & rules?
Once your registration has been validated and the registration fee has been recorded, you will receive log-in directions for your PTO Playoff team page. You will receive game day paraphernalia at the pre-game kick-off event, Friday, May 19, 2017.
Games And Challenges
What types of challenges does the competition include?
PTO Playoffs will include everything from relay races, obstacles courses and trivia games.
Are all of the competitions physical sporting challenges?
Not all of the challenges are physical. While most involve a certain element of physical interaction, some require mental prowess.
How are the challenges scored?
A point value is set for each activity. Participants earn points for competing in each activity.
How will the winner be determined?
A panel of judges will tally up the final scores to determine the grand prize winner.
What are the game rules?
You’ll receive the rules of the game at our awesome pre-game kick-off event, Friday, May 19, 2017.
Fundraising, Donations And Payouts
When will our school receive the funds we raised?
Your school will receive the funds 30 days after the event.
Can our school participate in the fundraising and not the game-day competition?
Absolutely, your school can register to raise funds without competing in the game day competition.
Will the final payout be written to our school or PTA/PTO?
The final payout will be written to the registered organization, be it the school or PTA/PTO.
Who can donate?
Anyone can donate to your fundraising efforts. We recommend that your PTA/PTO reach out to local businesses and families in your school’s neighborhood.
Who can raise money?
Schools and/or parent PTA/PTO organizations.
When does fundraising begin?
As soon as your school or PTA/PTO’s registration is validated by the principal or head of school, you may log into your school’s PTO Playoff web page to solicit donations.
How can we keep track of the amount of money our team has raised?
Your custom designed PTO Playoff website will track all donations received by your supporters.
